Who we are and what we do

Established in 1975

The Jamaica Computer Society (JCS) is the society for ICT Professionals in Jamaica.

The JCS promotes knowledge of the Information Communication Technology (ICT) industry and the effective and efficient utilization of IT for the benefit of all.

To facilitate exchange of information and views, the Society fosters networking links between ICT industry experts, IT professionals, academia, enterprise, and IT enthusiasts to encourage new thinking, education and career advancement opportunities.

The Society provides practical support to IT practitioners by encouraging continued professional development, to further advance the competence of ICT professionals in an effort to promote practices aligned to meet the demands of business.

Through collaboration with industry experts, government, relevant and respected certification bodies the Society strive to reposition itself as an authority within the ICT industry. Influencing policies that establish codes of conduct, and working practices that allow IT to effectively contribute to social growth and development.

Objectives of the JCS for 2015 – 2017 Administrative Term

  • Have a total of five hundred (500) active JCS members.
  • Possessing a treasury that is valued at USD$50,000.
  • Updating and promoting the use of the JCS Skill Bank
  • Host relevant conferences, workshops and seminars on ICT topics of interest in different parishes in Jamaica
  • Foster strong relationships and collaboration with ICT professionals and universities in other parishes
  • Create linkages for collaboration with IT professionals, student bodies, IT Consumers, Executive Agencies and Government Ministries to improve the ICT industry in Jamaica.
  • Transforming the JCS Office into a JCS ‘BizTech’ Incubator

Goals of the JCS for 2015 – 2017 Administrative Term
